Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi Clocks 101, Disciples, Clerics Extol His Virtues

Renowned Islamic scholar and leader of Tijjaniyyah adherents, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, has marked a milestone birthday, clocking 101 years according to the Islamic calendar. Born on the 2nd of Almuharram 1346 AH, Sheikh Dahiru was celebrated by his disciples and clerics, who offered special prayers in mosques, expressing gratitude for his life and achievements.

The Sheikh, known for his profound understanding of the Quran and Islamic jurisprudence, has dedicated his life to teaching both the theoretical and practical aspects of Islam. He has made significant contributions to Islamic scholarship and education, and his legacy continues to inspire many.

Sheikh Dahiru's journey in Islamic scholarship began under the tutelage of his father, Alhaji Usman, and he memorized the Holy Quran at the age of 19. He continued his studies under numerous esteemed Islamic scholars, both within and outside Nigeria, with Sheikh Ibrāhīm Inyass being his most influential teacher.

The Sheikh's profound knowledge has led to his recognition as a Professor of Quranic memorization and education, and Tasawwuf. He has been honored as well as one of the world's greatest Mufassirun (translators of the Glorious Quran).

The Sheikh's Tafsir (Quranic exegesis) broadcasts began on Bauchi Radio Corporation in 1976 and later on Radio Nigeria Kaduna in 1980. Today, numerous radio stations across northern Nigeria air his teachings, especially during Ramadan and beyond.

Sheikh Dahiru's legacy extends beyond his scholarship, as he has established numerous Islamic schools and farmlands to promote Quranic education. He has also established Quranic memorization centers and schools, contributing to the widespread memorization of the Quran in Nigeria and West Africa.

Disciples and clerics praised Sheikh Dahiru's courage in speaking against tyranny, corruption, and social ills. They commended his contributions to the development of Islam through his extensive Islamic scholarship, promotion of education, and efforts to foster unity among Muslims.

The annual dhikr event, which Sheikh Dahiru organized, drew scholars, traditional leaders, disciples, and students, who prayed for his long life and prosperity. They also spoke about his exemplary life and the numerous legacies that people continue to benefit from.
