A fire outbreak has gutted the residence of the District Head of Lere, Alhaji Sulaiman Muhammad, located in the Gwallaga area of Bauchi metropolis.
The incident, which occurred on Monday, August 4, 2025, is suspected to have been caused by an electrical fault. At the time of the outbreak, the district head was reportedly at his palace in Zwall.
Confirming the incident, a traditional title holder, Sa'in Tafawa Balewa, Mallam Yunusa Ado, said several valuables and important properties were destroyed in the fire.
“We believe the fire was caused by an electrical fault. Thankfully, there was no loss of life or injuries,” he said.
He commended the prompt response of the Bauchi State Fire Service, whose efforts, alongside those of neighbors, helped to contain the blaze and prevent further damage. He added that residents also assisted in moving a car parked in the garage to safety.
“We pray to God to restore what was lost and protect us from future occurrences,” Yunusa said.
