Bandits Kill Hunters, Civilians IN Bauchi Community

The Bauchi State Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation into the killing of professional hunters and civilians in Alkaleri Local Government Area. The attack, which occurred on May 4, 2025, resulted in numerous casualties, with locals reporting 19 deaths.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the incident happened when a combined team of professional hunters from Duguri and Gwana District encountered an ambush by armed bandits while on patrol. The confrontation resulted in casualties on both sides, including members of the vigilante group and the bandits.

The Police Commissioner, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, visited the scene, deployed tactical teams, and engaged stakeholders, urging everyone to remain calm and vigilant. He condemned the killings, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of lives and assuring the public that the perpetrators would be brought to justice.

Residents of Mansur Village reported that nine professional hunters and 10 civilians were killed, and the funeral prayers for the nine vigilantes took place in Mansur Village. The deceased were buried according to Islamic rites, and prayers were offered for the protection of the communities.

The police investigation is ongoing, with a specialized team working to apprehend those responsible for the attack. The Commissioner of Police extended his condolences to the affected families and assured the public of a diligent investigation.
