Governor Bala Muhammed of Bauchi State hosted the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, for the groundbreaking ceremony of the Bauchi Oil and Gas Academy's permanent site in Alkaleri Local Government Area.
According to the governor as he wrote on his Facebook social media handle, "Today, I had the honour of welcoming the Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, to Bauchi State for the official groundbreaking ceremony of the permanent site of the Bauchi Oil and Gas Academy, located in Alkaleri Local Government Area."
The governor said, "This occasion marks a major milestone in our administration’s commitment to building capacity and promoting energy-driven development, especially given Bauchi’s strategic position in the Kolmani Oil Prospect. The vision to establish the Bauchi Oil and Gas Academy was conceived shortly after the historic discovery of oil in Kolmani. It was inspired by a deep desire to prepare our young people for the boundless opportunities and emerging challenges within the evolving energy landscape."
"I remain profoundly grateful to former President Muhammadu Buhari for the pivotal role he played in making the Kolmani Oil Project a reality. It stands as a historic achievement not only for Bauchi State but for the entire nation. I also express my sincere appreciation to the Honourable Minister and the Federal Government for their unwavering support and continued collaboration," he stressed.
"This academy is envisioned as a centre of excellence in energy education—designed to equip our youths with the technical training and industry-ready skills they need to thrive in this sector. I was deeply encouraged by Senator Lokpobiri’s gracious remarks and by his pledge of support for the development of the Kolmani Oil Field. His presence and commitment reflect the strong partnership between our state and the Federal Government."
"As we laid the foundation stone together, I reaffirmed our shared aspiration to see Bauchi become a leading player in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry. I call on the good people of our state to continue supporting this vision as we work collectively toward sustainable progress and inclusive growth," the governor said.
