SAZU Reiterates Commitment to Impactful Research for Community Development


Sa'adu Zungur University (SAZU) has reaffirmed its dedication to conducting impactful research that addresses the needs of Nigerian communities. During a 3-day training on Research for Impact (R4I) and Grant Writing, the university emphasized the importance of research in driving development and improving the quality of life for its citizens.

Representing Vice Chancellor Professor Fatimah Tahir, Deputy Vice Chancellor Professor Bala Abdulhamid Ma'aji highlighted the potential of research to tackle the numerous challenges facing Nigeria, particularly in the Northeast. He stressed that SAZU is committed to conducting research that is relevant, impactful, and beneficial to the community, and that aligns with the university's mission to drive development and progress.
The training, organized by the Centre of Excellence for Research and Innovation (CERI), aims to equip 46 academic staff from various faculties and departments with the necessary skills to design and implement impactful research projects that can secure funding and drive positive change in the community. The training is part of the university's efforts to promote a culture of research excellence and innovation, and to enhance its research output and community engagement.

Director of CERI, Dr. Usman Waziri, noted that the training is designed to enable participants to develop competitive research proposals and secure funding for their projects. He emphasized that the training will provide participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to write grant proposals that can attract funding from local and international organizations.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor also highlighted the importance of grant writing skills in securing funding for research projects. He urged participants to take advantage of the training to enhance their skills and knowledge in this area, and to develop research projects that can address the needs of the community.

The university expects the training to have a positive impact on its research output and community engagement. By equipping its academic staff with the necessary skills and knowledge, SAZU is confident that it can conduct impactful research that addresses the needs of Nigerian communities and drives development.
