Senator Shehu Buba Urges Collaboration to Fight Crime

Senator Shehu Buba Umar, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Security and Intelligence, has emphasized the need for stakeholders and community collaboration to combat crime in Duguri Gwana District, Alkaleri Local Government Area.

Buba made the call during a condolence visit to the families of nine hunters and ten civilians killed by bandits in Garin Mansur. He visited the homes of the deceased and the palaces of the District Head of Duguri and village heads of Alkaleri, Garin Mansur, and Gwana.

The senator said Bauchi State is known for its peacefulness, but occasional insecurity requires collective action to promote strong community neighborhoods and timely information sharing with traditional leaders and security agencies.

Buba pledged to collaborate with the Bauchi State Government, security agencies, youths, and communities to find lasting solutions to the area's security situation. He donated N10 million to the families of the deceased to alleviate their hardship.

The attack occurred on May 4, 2025, when a combined team of professional hunters encountered an ambush by armed bandits, resulting in 19 deaths and the theft of 1,156 cows. Buba condemned the attack as a cowardly act and emphasized the importance of enhanced security measures to protect lives and properties.
