The Speaker of Bauchi State House of Assembly, Honorable Abubakar Y. Suleiman, has called on the academic staff, non-academic staff, and the entire university community of Sa'adu Zungur University (SAZU) to rally behind the Vice Chancellor, Professor Fatimah Tahir, in her quest to drive the institution towards greater heights of academic excellence.
The Speaker made this appeal during the official launching of the Career Service Centre, Entrepreneurship Development Centre, and the commissioning of a 500KVA generator at the university's Yuli Campus. He was represented at the ceremony by the Chairman of the House Committee on Education, Honorable Dr. Nasiru Ahmed Ala.
According to the Speaker, the Bauchi State House of Assembly appreciates the democratic leadership style of the Vice Chancellor, which has been yielding positive results for the university. He noted that the assembly has been supportive of SAZU in various ways, including during budget defense, and expressed optimism that the university will continue to thrive under Professor Tahir's leadership.
The Speaker emphasized the importance of peace and collaboration within the university community, stressing that development and progress can only be achieved in a peaceful environment. He therefore urged all stakeholders to put aside their differences and work together towards achieving the university's goals.
In his remarks, the Speaker warned that the House will not tolerate any form of quarrel or disruption within the university, and called on all members of the university community to maintain a high level of decorum and professionalism in their interactions with one another. By doing so, he said, SAZU will be able to realize its full potential and make meaningful contributions to the socio-economic development of Bauchi State and Nigeria as a whole.
