Bauchi Gov't to Solarises 20 General Hospitals for Improved Service Delivery

By Murtala Muhammad

Bauchi State Government has concluded arrangements to solarise 20 General Hospitals across the 20 local government areas of the state to ensure stable electricity supply and improve service delivery in health facilities.

The intervention is being implemented under the World Bank-assisted Immunisation Plus and Malaria Progress by Accelerating Coverage and Transforming Services, IMPACT Project.

Programme Manager of the IMPACT Project, Dr Adamu Muhammad, disclosed this in an interview with journalists during an orientation for newly recruited health workers.

Dr Muhammad explained that the solarisation would address power challenges affecting effective service delivery, particularly in maternal and child healthcare across rural and underserved communities.

He said the solar intervention would also cover the State Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Primary Health Care Board, and the Hospital Management Board headquarters.

According to him, the move is part of efforts to improve the functionality and reliability of health services in both urban and rural locations in Bauchi.

Dr Muhammad also announced the procurement of 20 new 4D ultrasound scan machines for the general hospitals to boost antenatal and diagnostic services in the state.

He added that IMPACT would soon launch free antenatal and delivery services in 212 supported primary health centres, targeting thousands of pregnant women across the state.
