The Bauchi state government has announced the postponement of the planned investment summit in the state to October this year.
Governor Bala Mohammed of the state made this known while speaking during the Executive Council meeting at the EXCO chamber of the government house on Thursday.
"We have hiccups because we have to listen to the international community, those that were invited, we are oblivious of the fact that July is a mid year period when most of the members of the diplomatic community and of course corporate bodies would be going for mid year holidays and we wouldn't want our occasion to be partially attended," the Governor said.
"So we are shifting it to October on the advice of experts, and this I wanted it to be circulated by the media because we need time to inform those we are inviting," he added.
Governor Mohammed who stated that, he has gotten a signal from the Governor of Enugu, indicating his readiness to attend the summit, noted that with the postponement, adequate notice should be given to make to public aware of it.
"I directed the Chief economic adviser to draft a letter that I will sign and this has not been done, we have to act quickly otherwise we will have a problem, most people are serious especially those we are inviting, they need to change their programmes, they need to really change their diary to ensure that they will come or not and we need to give them at least three weeks or two weeks notice," he said.
The governor who noted that there is a lot of things to do for the state, urged his cabinet members to sit up.
Bala Mohammed said that the agenda of the meeting is a continuation of some of the projects and programmes that have been designed to achieve within fiscal year.
"Last time I said council members who have projects in their ministries or MDAs should approach me for procurement or send forth memo for it to be accommodated but I am seeing very little of them coming out and of course I still urge members to do that because we are almost doing the mid year review", he said.
