"Sack Onanuga," APC Chieftain Tells Tinubu Over Inflammatory Statements

A former gubernatorial aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State, Alhaji Muhammad Sani Alamin, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to sack Bayo Onanuga, his aide, over inflammatory statements that could further heat up the polity.

Alamin described Onanuga's claim that opposition parties are plotting to overthrow the Tinubu administration as "reckless and malicious," warning that it may be a pretext to suppress dissent and intimidate political opponents.

In a statement, Alamin said Onanuga's allegations could signal a broader campaign of repression against opposition leaders and erode the foundations of Nigeria's democracy.

He also questioned Onanuga's silence over APC leaders' provocative actions, such as Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje's declaration of President Tinubu as the sole APC candidate for 2027 without consultation or regional unity.

Alamin urged President Tinubu to resist the temptation to cry wolf where there is none, saying it betrays a sense of panic and undermines his democratic credentials.

The APC chieftain called for Onanuga's removal, stating that his words are damaging President Tinubu's reputation and provoking national disunity.

He further stressed that, "Enough is enough: This is not the time for divisive rhetoric. Bayo Onanuga must be called to order or removed entirely. His words are not helping President Tinubu; they are damaging his reputation further and provoking national unity."

"This is a final warning: Nigeria is sitting on economic and political fragility. The Presidency cannot afford a spokesperson who is reckless, tribalistic, and allergic to truth."

Alamin also urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and resist any efforts to delegitimize democratic freedom, while calling on the international community to monitor the political environment and hold the government accountable for any actions that threaten democratic freedoms.
