APC Supporters Urge Party to Field Credible Candidate for 2027 Governorship in Bauchi
By Ahmad Saka, Bauchi
Supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State have called on the party leadership to field a credible and widely accepted candidate with the capacity to defeat the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2027 governorship election.
The call was made on Saturday when thousands of supporters of Senator Shehu Buba stormed the APC State Secretariat in Bauchi to endorse him as their preferred candidate for the 2027 gubernatorial race.
The supporters, under the aegis of the Shehu Buba Organisation (SBO), were drawn from the seven local government areas that constitute the Bauchi South Senatorial District. They described Senator Buba as the most qualified person to succeed Governor Bala Mohammed and urged him to declare his intention to contest.
Addressing the crowd, Chairman of the SBO, Comrade Ibrahim Baba, emphasized that their gathering was not a campaign rally but a collective show of support for a credible leader.
“We are here today not to campaign, but to show the world that Senator Shehu Buba is the best man for the governorship of Bauchi State come 2027. His supporters from Bauchi South have spoken with one voice,” Baba said.
He appreciated the turnout and appealed to the APC leadership in the state to ensure a level playing field for all aspirants as the party prepares for its primaries.
Also speaking, a prominent member of the SBO, Comrade Sabo Mohammed, described Senator Buba as “a rising force in Bauchi State politics,” adding that his support base extends across all three senatorial zones in the state.
“Having lost to the PDP on two occasions, we are working tirelessly to ensure that APC presents a strong and acceptable candidate. Senator Buba is the right man for the job,” Sabo stated.
In his remarks while receiving the SBO delegation, APC Chairman in Bauchi State, Alhaji Mohammed Tilde, thanked the group for their show of solidarity. He assured that the party would guarantee fairness and transparency in the selection of candidates ahead of the 2026 delegates’ election.
