Bauchi State Governor and Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has called on members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) across the country to remain steadfast and unwavering in their commitment to the ideals of the party despite the recent wave of internal challenges and defections.
Speaking ahead of the forthcoming PDP National Convention, Governor Mohammed reaffirmed that the convention will proceed as scheduled, expressing confidence that the party will emerge stronger and more united.
He described those leaving the PDP as individuals lacking courage and conviction, noting that leadership and loyalty are tested not in moments of comfort, but in times of trial.
“We have endured many challenges, but we remain steadfast. The convention will go ahead as planned,” the Governor declared.
“True courage is standing firm in the face of challenges, not running away. We must do something within the democratic process to restore our nation’s dignity.”
Governor Bala Mohammed acknowledged the difficulties confronting the PDP but maintained that the party’s resilience and deep democratic roots remain unshaken. He urged party members at all levels to remain courageous, loyal, and focused on rebuilding the nation through the principles of justice, equity, and inclusiveness.
The Governor also lamented Nigeria’s worsening economic hardship and the absence of purposeful leadership since the PDP left power in 2015, stressing that the current situation underscores the need for unity and strategic engagement among opposition forces.
Despite speculations that some governors, including Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, and others may be considering defection, Governor Mohammed expressed optimism that the PDP’s internal renewal through the forthcoming convention will restore faith in the party’s mission and rekindle hope among Nigerians.
Governor Bala Mohammed, known for his forthrightness and inclusive leadership style, reaffirmed his commitment to working with all stakeholders to reposition the PDP as a credible alternative capable of rescuing Nigeria from its current socio-economic challenges.
As preparations for the national convention intensify, the Governor’s rallying call stands as a reminder of the PDP’s enduring spirit a party that has weathered storms, shaped democracy, and continues to represent the aspirations of millions across the nation.
