The Bauchi State Police Command has successfully foiled a kidnapping attempt in Maso Kano village, Jada Pali district of Alkaleri Local Government Area, rescuing two victims unhurt and arresting three suspects linked to a kidnapping syndicate operating in the Alkaleri–Kirfi axis.
According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the incident occurred on September 28, 2025, at about 1:00 a.m., following a distress call from residents of Maso Kano village. The report indicated that a group of armed men, suspected to be kidnappers and wielding AK-47 rifles, had invaded the community and abducted two persons.
The victims were identified as 50-year-old Hambali Alhaji Sa’adu and 35-year-old Jari Alhaji Sa’adu.
In response, a combined team of police operatives and local hunters swiftly mobilized to the scene, engaging the hoodlums in a fierce gun battle. The kidnappers were forced to abandon their captives and flee into the bush, leaving the victims behind unharmed.
The statement further revealed that during a follow-up operation between September 29 and 30, 2025, detectives from the Command apprehended three suspects believed to be connected to the crime. Those arrested are 28-year-old Adamu Ahmadu, 18-year-old Bello Alhaji Musa, and 29-year-old Adamu Alhaji Musa — all residents of Shalhori village in Kirfi Local Government Area.
“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to being part of a gang involved in kidnapping activities in the Alkaleri and Kirfi areas,” the statement read. “They admitted conspiring with three other accomplices who are still at large to carry out the abduction for ransom.”
The Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, psc(+), mni, commended the gallantry and professionalism of the officers and local hunters involved in the operation. He directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation, assuring that all fleeing suspects would be tracked down and prosecuted.
CP Aliyu reiterated the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of lives and property across the state, urging residents to continue providing credible information that would aid the police in tackling crime effectively.
The police reaffirmed that efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining suspects and dismantle the criminal network behind the foiled kidnapping attempt.
